Brief Introduction: Jeffrey Hicke is a Professor of Geography at the University of Idaho in Moscow, Idaho, USA. He studies the interaction of climate change, forests, and disturbances such as insect outbreaks and wildfire. He has a particular interest in bark beetles in western North America, and investigates the extent and severity of outbreaks, influences of climate and other drivers, and impacts on forest ecosystems. Jeff uses statistical and mechanistic modeling, remote sensing, and data analysis in his research. He received his Ph.D. in Atmospheric Science from the University of Colorado at Boulder and has been at the University of Idaho since in 2006. He enjoys mountain biking, camping, backpacking, and soccer (watching, these days).
